On July 13, the Fourth Cross-Strait Youth Marine Science and Culture Festival and the 2025 Cross-Strait Maritime Culture Exchange, hosted by Jimei University(JMU), successfully concluded.  

The festival, the only event in Fujian universities to be selected as a key exchange project by the Ministry of Education in 2025, carried the theme “Building Dreams Together, Sailing into the Future.” Activities included academic seminars, skill exchanges, maritime search and rescue drills, ship model making and racing competitions, marine environment research, and simulated large-vessel operations. The festival attracted 70 students from across the Taiwan Strait.  

This event demonstrated JMU’s academic strengths in serving the national strategies of building a strong maritime nation and province, while also advancing cross-strait integration. It received strong support from institutions such as the Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries and the Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration.  

Taiwanese youth participants remarked that the seven-day event was rich in content and diverse in form, allowing them to experience the profound maritime traditions of the Chinese nation and immerse themselves in cutting-edge maritime technology. The activities sparked their enthusiasm for marine exploration and strengthened their confidence in building a better future together with mainland peers.  

In recent years, JMU has been committed to promoting cross-strait exchanges. With increasing enrollment of students from Taiwan, the University has developed a series of influential programs, including the Cross-Strait Youth Marine Science and Culture Festival, the Cross-Strait Youth Dragon and Lion Dance Exchange, the Cross-Strait University Student Art Competition, and training programs for social work professionals from Taiwan.
