On September 6, 2026 Global Sustainable Transport Cultural Exchange Project II was officially launched in Xiamen. The program is hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, organized by Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center, and co-organized by Jimei University.

Yang Shenhua, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jimei University Committee and Vice President of Jimei University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Relevant officials from the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, Navigation College, and other units also attended the event.

The program brought together 21 government officials at the departmental and division levels and industry experts in the transport sector from 12 countries, including Azerbaijan and Brazil. It aims to build a multilateral dialogue platform and jointly promote global sustainable transport development.

In his remarks, Yang provided an overview of the university’s more than 100-year history of maritime education and its disciplinary strengths in the transport field, and highlighted the university’s recent development. He noted that Xiamen, as a core hub city of the Maritime Silk Road, provided a vivid practical example for the program. The university will make every effort to provide service and logistical support and actively share its educational experience and research achievements. He encouraged participants to engage in in-depth exchanges and mutual learning, and expressed the hope that the program would serve as a bridge to continuously deepen regular cooperation with Belt and Road partner countries in transport talent training, research innovation, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

During the eight-day study and exchange program in Xiamen, the university will continue to collaborate with all parties to advance sustainable transport and sustainable development.
