On the afternoon of April 6, Professor Chua Kee Chaing, President of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), led a delegation to Jimei University (JMU). They were received by JMU Party Secretary Qiu Weijie, along with Yang Shenhua, Vice President. Representatives from the University Office, the Student Affairs Office, and the Department International Cooperation and Exchange also attended the meeting.
Qiu welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of JMU’s academic development, highlighting recent progress in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, and scientific research. He emphasized that JMU, inspired by the spirit of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, has developed distinctive strengths in engineering technology and applied talent cultivation. Qiu noted that SIT’s extensive experience in applied learning model aligns well with JMU’s educational philosophy, offering broad prospects for collaboration.
Focusing on the theme of “Educational Cooperation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” Vice President Yang suggested that both universities explore innovative pathways for AI-empowered teaching. He expressed hope for substantive cooperation in areas such as student exchange programs, short-term training, and joint degree programs.
Professor Chua Kee Chaing thanked Jimei University for its commitment to the partnership. He noted that SIT is dedicated to cultivating professionals with strong theoretical foundations and practical skills, aligning learning outcomes with industry needs. He expressed hope that both institutions would establish collaboration at an early date to achieve mutual benefits and shared success.
The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is Singapore’s fifth public university and the country’s first university of applied learning. Its new campus at the Punggol Digital District integrates the university with a business park. SIT offers programs in engineering, information and communications technology, health and social sciences, business, and design, and has partnered with over 500 enterprises.
