From November 25 to December 1, the China-Russia Maritime Youth Exchange Program in the Ministry of Education’s YES Project (Young Envoys Scholarship), hosted by Jimei University, concluded successfully. A delegation of 22 students from the partner institution, Nevelskoy State Maritime University(Russia), engaged in a week-long intensive exchange with students from Navigation College and College of Marine Engineering. The program focused on maritime collaboration and the immersive experience of cultural heritage of the Maritime Silk Road.

During the seven-day itinerary, the Russian delegation gained firsthand exposure to JMU’s creativity in green and intelligent ship technology through laboratory visits and attending maritime lectures. By touring maritime institutions in Xiamen and exploring the Maritime Museum, they gained profound insights into the vital role of maritime endeavors in fostering international connectivity and cooperation. Through immersive activities like dragon boat racing, puppet theater performances, and listening to Nanyin music, they experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture. Delegation members expressed that the event provided them with a fresh perspective on China's profound historical heritage and modern development. While forging friendships and learning professional skills, they witnessed the university’s innovative vitality and achievements in maritime science and technology. They expressed willingness to actively promote student exchanges between the two institutions and strive to build bridge between Chinese and Russian youth.

Nevelskoy State Maritime University, with over a century of maritime education history, is Russia’s largest maritime institution of higher learning. The university will continue to deepen cooperation with it in teaching, research, and faculty-student exchanges, jointly cultivating maritime professionals with global visions.
