From June 14 to 18, Vice President Wang Jian led a delegation to Thailand and Malaysia to deepen cooperation with Southeast Asian universities, expand educational and cultural exchanges with Belt and Road countries, and strengthen connections with overseas alumni.
In Thailand, the delegation met with Siridech Kumsuprom, Executive Vice President of Dhurakij Pundit University, to discuss enhancing cooperation under the existing “1+3” program, and visited enrolled students to learn about their academic and living conditions. They also met with Dr. Saichon Chutjuejeen of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok to discuss joint undergraduate and graduate training programs and short-term student exchanges. The delegation also attended the Fifth Global Jimei Alumni Association Meeting and the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Jimei Alumni Association in Thailand.
In Malaysia, the delegation met with David FitzPatrick, Provost and CEO of the University of Nottingham Malaysia, to discuss a “2+2” joint undergraduate program. At Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Vice President Adi Irfan and Wang Jian exchanged views on advancing the “2+2” program and discussed plans to establish a UKM Overseas Learning Center at Jimei University. The delegation also met with Vice President Say Sok Kwan of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology and signed an agreement on a joint undergraduate program in aquaculture. At UCSI University, they discussed cooperation in music performance and student/faculty exchanges with Executive Vice President Datuk Rohana.
Representatives from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Overseas Education College accompanied the visit.
