Recently, the research accomplishment titled “Fluid Oscillation-Driven Bi-Directional Air Turbine Triboelectric Nanogenerator for Ocean Wave Energy Harvesting” which is cooperated with Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Systems, Chinese Academy of Sciences was published in the top international journal Advanced Energy Materials in the field of energy materials by Prof. Yang Shaohui’s team. (Chinese Academy of Sciences, IF=27.8).

It is reported that Jimei University acted as the lead institution of the research paper. The paper was co-authored by Prof. Yang Shaohui, Graduate student, class of 2022, Chengzhuo Zhang, Associate Prof. Zhichang Du, and Associate Prof. Tu Yongqiang. And the corresponding authors included Researcher Hong Zhanyong, Researcher Jiang Tao, and Academician Wang Zhonglin of the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Systems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, .

Wave energy is one of the vital ocean energies. It is the first time for this research to combine the oscillating water column wave energy converter with friction nanogenerator, and designed a non-contact turntable structure wave energy generator, which provides a new solution for powering various types of offshore equipment with wide use.

The intelligent marine electromechanical equipment research team led by Prof. Shaohui Yang has already participated in sea condition tests with five models of equipment, accumulating a lot of engineering experience and research achievements in the field of research and development of marine renewable energy equipment. The team will continue to research on the innovative combination of wave energy conversion equipment and friction nanoelectricity generation methods to support the further integration and development of the two fields.
