On February 24, JMU held a meeting on work deployment in 2023 and the mobilization and deployment of the action of “striving for excellence with deepening learning, striving for the top with courage, and striving for efficiency with arduous work”.

All the leaders of the University, the Directors of the departments and the teaching auxiliary institutions, the Party Secretaries and the Deans of colleges (including the vice deans presiding over the work), and the persons in charge of the retired party organization attended the meeting.

Affirming the achievements in 2022, Shen Canhuang, Party Secretary of the University stressed on the key work in 2023 in five aspects as follows: First, the “three battles” should be conducted in the development of JMU to expand the development space and enhance the level of schooling; second, we should carry out the reform of governance system and governance capacity, and optimize the management of scientific research and the distribution system; third, upholding the spirit of “striving for excellence with deepening learning, striving for the top with courage, and striving for efficiency with arduous work”, we should undauntedly take the lead in the action; fourth,  our thoughts, will and actions unified, we are able to fulfil the work plans of the Party Committee of the University; fifth, with the spirit of Tan kah Kee and great devotion, it is believed that JMU will be enlisted in the top 100 first-class universities in China.

At the meeting, President Li Qingbiao reviewed the new developments and achievements of the University in the past year and made the deployment of key work in 2023. He pointed out that in 2023, guided by the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, we should all pitch into improving the comprehensive strength of the University, focusing on our tasks, clarifying our responsibilities, and promoting the implement of annual project of “14th Five-Year Plan” and the goal of the construction of a “Double First-class” University.

The meeting concluded with a call on the faculty to embark on constructing a first-class university with distinctive feature of “engineering integrated with marine science” with great tenacity and determination.
