Recently, Li Qingbiao, Presidentof Jimei University, attended - on invitation - the 8thPrincipal Forum on Blue Ocean Strategy of Maritime University across the Taiwan Straits and visited partner institutions in Taiwan.Other school presidents from Taiwan Ocean University, Chinese Maritime University and some universities also attended the forum.
President Li Qingbiao delivered the keynote speech. He had a deep discussion with the presidents from other colleges on advancing cross-strait maritime education, science and technology and culture development and exchange and promoting the quality of personnel training and the level of scientific research.President Li hasalsosucceeded in applying for the right to host the 9thPrincipal Forum on Blue Ocean Strategy of Maritime University across the Taiwan Straits in 2018 in Jimei University.
During his visit, Li Qingbiao and his delegation visited several Taiwan universities, including Chung Yuan Christian University, National University of Kaohsiung, Yuan Ze University, Tung Fang Design Institute and Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, promoting the cooperation and exchange of visiting scholars, short-term visiting and training of teachers and students, joint personnel training and academic research, as well as the cooperation plans in resources sharing with the cooperative universities.
President Li Qingbiao also paid a visit to the Chinese Seamen’s General Union of Taiwan and had a thorough discussion on the cultivation of maritime talents, the current problems in Taiwan about crew training, and the forwarding of cooperative direction. He also visited the students and the instructors of Cooperation Project of Jimei University between Fujian and Taiwan and had conversations with students to debrief them about school life.
